So we did something guys. I signed us up for the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge. Let us discuss a bit about the background of the One Room Challenge
During the spring and fall of each year, featured designers are handpicked by Linda Weinstein and the team at ORC to participate in a 6-week challenge. Where each designer gives a room of their choice a makeover. We are all carried along on the journey to transform these rooms. Luckily individuals like me with an Instagram or blog account can choose to sign up as a guest participant and join in on the fun.
As a home design enthusiast, watching others participate in this challenge. I have always been awestruck and envious of the bravery to sign up and participate in these challenges. I and my husband have never done any DIY projects before. We have always talked about it but never took the plunge. So with the pandemic going on and having to work from home. This could be a great bonding experience.
We decided on transforming our Half/Guest bath. At the moment this is a room that lacks personality and it is builder grade. Half bath usually gets the short end of the stick in most homes. This is quite unfortunate because this is a room where you can make a lasting warm impression on your guests. It is also a small space which I hope will be an easy start for first-timers like us.
Plans for the one room challenge |Half Bath Makeover|
Now let’s talk about the fun stuff, our plans for the half bath. It all started when I stumbled upon a wallpaper design by Serena and lily. I am envisioning a tropical and modern oasis. The plan is to paint, apply wallpaper, change the mirror, sink, and maybe the light fixture. The part that excites me the most is the board and batten wall.
Weekly To-Do List for the one room challenge
Select the paint color and Paint the walls
Apply wallpaper
Shop for sink and mirror
Install the board and batten
shop for accessories
The best part put it all together
This week we will be painting the room and if time persists adding in the wallpaper. We are yet to decide on a sink that we both love just yet. So we need to make that decision soon. We also need to shop and buy the wood needed for the shiplap/board & batten. This is an exciting and fun project. we excited to have you along for the ride. Each week I will be updating the blog and Instagram page on our progress with the half bath. You can also follow along and see what the guest designers and featured designers are working on. Please join me and let’s discuss in the comment section as we cheer each other on this exciting journey.
