One Room Challenge Final Reveal

The final reveal of the one-room challenge is finally here. We are finally at the finish line. I am excited yet extremely nervous to share the final look of the space. Thoughts and questions of what could have or should I have done differently spirals all around like a tornado in my head. I would really like to thank my husband who signed on for this project without complaints. He is really the Braun behind all my lofty ideas.

As a first-timer in a sea of numerous talented individuals, I chose our powder room because it was a small space that I wanted to turn into a conversation starter. I am happy to report that my goal was accomplished. The powder room was a small and dark space with a weird angled ceiling. The goal was to make it light airy and welcoming.

Before Powder Room

Prior to delving into the present. Here is a peek into the past

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 2

It was not bad but not the cutest place to look at either. In an attempt to make it look better, 4 years ago I painted it a sky blue color that never did anything positive for space. I added a floating shelf and some accessories. All less than a $100

I shared my mood board and plans for the space on week one. I later modified it by not changing the knobs on the vanity and also decided not to have scone light. To catch up on the events of the previous weeks week 2, week 3, week 4, week 5& 6.

Powder Room Final Reveal

Let us talk about this wallpaper, the moment I laid my eyes on it. I knew it was going to be incorporated in my home. It is as beautiful in pictures as it is in person and the quality is fantastic. So yes my design was built around this gorgeous Serena and lily wallpaper. I wanted to choose accents that will enhance but not compete with it.

With the sink and vanity, I wanted something modern, with storage and not bulky. This piece from lowes checked off each of these boxes.

The board and batten design was a first for us. I am so glad I was able to convince my husband to come on board. it truly elevated the design of the room.

I also changed out the mirrors from the builder-grade design that came with the house. To this beveled-edge, brushed nickel mirror from Kirkland’s. It complements the brushed nickel faucet, tissue holder, and towel holder.

Accessories

Over the WC, I got this bamboo tray from amazon. In it, I placed a kleenex box, candle, faux flower, and room spray. All essential items for a powder room.

Another favorite find from amazon was the dish and hand lotion bottle. I wanted the soap and lotion bottles to have the same design. Having little kids who will utilize this space meant we had to incorporate some practicality in the space. The delta faucet has a pulldown nozzle which comes in handy when washing little hands.

I really wanted to bring some warmth to the room, by utilizing artwork with wood frames. So when I came across the make yourself at home at HomeGoods I knew it will be perfect for the powder room. The second artwork is a collage of prints I bought from Etsy. The frame was purchased from target. The black and white prints complement the room so well.

As this makeover was a family joint effort, I felt it was only right that I include this last frame of the baby walking into my shot as I took pictures of the room. This has truly been an exciting ride. Thank you for all your support and encouragement along the way. Please do check out the final reveal of the guest participants and Featured Designers as well.
